Cardamom, 100 g

This exquisite Indian spice, with its pleasant sweet taste and medicinal properties, was cultivated in the Hanging Gardens of Babylon and served with various dishes. Cardamom was considered an expensive spice, enjoyed only by the nobility, understandable given its noble aroma and ability to cure many ailments. It is among the three most expensive spices in the world, alongside saffron and vanilla – when referring to natural spices without additives. Cardamom is simultaneously pungent and delicate, sharp and soft, with notes of eucalyptus and camphor giving it a piquant, refreshing taste.

Cardamom is a powerful antioxidant that prevents aging, removes toxins, lowers cholesterol, and strengthens the immune system. Furthermore, this aromatic spice effectively breaks down fats and normalizes metabolism, making it effective in the fight against excess weight. Cardamom is indicated for pregnant women as it alleviates symptoms of morning sickness and improves digestion. In India, the seeds of this plant are chewed after meals to freshen breath. Ayurveda specialists prescribe cardamom to improve vision, for coughs, migraines, and neuroses. Urologists have mentioned this spice as a male aphrodisiac used to treat impotence. Cardamom breaks down caffeine and prevents its harmful effects, so coffee with cardamom is much gentler than pure Arabica.

Besides its beneficial properties, cardamom also has contraindications — for example, allergic reactions, stomach and intestinal diseases. It is also not recommended to consume cardamom with oil, as this can lead to weight gain.
