This churna is traditionally prescribed by Ayurvedic doctors for diseases caused by the accumulation of toxins (ama) in the body, as a prophylaxis and in the initial stage of rheumatoid arthritis (amavata), as well as in the treatment of other Vata-type diseases. Panchakola churna cleanses the intestines and normalizes its function, eliminates stagnant phenomena in tissues, heals the body, gives the body lightness, improves all metabolic processes, and sharpens taste perception.

The name of the preparation itself comes from Sanskrit "pancha" - "five" and "kola" - "quantity equal to the weight of Kola" (about 6 gr) and indicates that during preparation, five components of the preparation, taken in equal volume, are ground and mixed together.

Used in the initial phase of treatment as part of cleansing therapy (Panchakarma), in particular, it is given to patients in the form of a decoction during Vamana and Virechana therapy.

Ayurvedic characteristics: soothes Vata and Pitta dosha. Has a sharp or hot taste (Rasa), dry and hot qualities (Guna), warming energy (Virya), a sharp aftertaste (Vipaka), as well as a light, intense and deeply penetrating effect on the body (Prabhava). Information about the composition, indications for use and method of preparation of Panchakola churna is recorded in the "Sharangadhara-samhita" (Madhyama-khanda 6/13 – 14).


Active ingredients:

Pippali (Piper longum). This type of pepper, practically unknown in our latitudes, but intensively used in Eastern medicine, is used in phyto-preparations as a "conductor plant" for the treatment of stomach diseases. Pippali has a strong antiseptic effect, stimulates the gastrointestinal tract, increases appetite, secretion of the stomach and pancreas. Due to the content of silvatin, sitosteroids and methylpiperine, the plant eliminates bile stasis and nausea. It has pronounced anti-inflammatory properties, eliminates bloating, constipation and other stomach problems, helps with colds, bronchitis, laryngitis, asthma, arthritis, rheumatism, gout, stimulates brain function.

Chitrak (Plumbago zeylanica). Improves digestion, restores appetite, relieves swelling, helps get rid of parasites, alleviates skin diseases, improves condition with paralysis, reduces bloating, positively affects mental disorders.

Ginger (Zingiber officinale). Contains amino acids and vitamins A, B, C, trace elements - magnesium, iron, calcium, zinc, potassium, phosphorus. The root of the plant positively affects the digestive process, stimulating the secretion of gastric juice, improves hematopoietic function and cerebral blood flow, accelerates metabolic processes in the body and enhances the activity of the thyroid gland in the production of hormones. The use of ginger helps to cope with problems such as flatulence, allergic manifestations and skin diseases, high cholesterol, helminthic invasions, the risk of blood clots, diarrhea, stomach cramps, pain in joint diseases, edema, sprains. Cleanses the body of toxins and toxins, strengthens the immune system.


Usage: Take in a dosage of 1 to 3 grams in combination with honey, hot water, ghee (clarified butter) or warm milk 1-2 times a day before meals, or as recommended by an Ayurvedic doctor.

For cleansing, you can use a decoction of Panchakola churna. To do this, pour 2-5 grams of Panchakola churna powder with 150-200 ml of hot water, let it brew for 10-15 minutes, drink hot in small sips. Take each time when you feel thirsty.

Panchakola churna can be taken in long courses - 2-4 months.
